You slide the stop collar to the correct size using the material thickness gauge, which is also a hex wrench. This adjustable stop collar ensures repeat accuracy of the Kreg jointing system. By setting the stop collar once, you can thus make several pocket holes in succession in the same material thickness.
The built-in clamping system provides more repeat accuracy as well. The handle has a quick-reset function, which ensures that the clamp remains at approximately the same thickness. This allows you to work with material of the same thickness several times in a row, without having to squeeze the handle several times.
